Working with children and youths whose own parent
The Foster Youth Ministry provides support and mentoring to foster youth and foster families in north SD County in a variety of ways throughout the year. Our biggest event is the Fostering Christmas Wishes Party in December where 100 foster youth receive both toys and clothing gifts and 25 emancipated foster youth receive Christmas stockings. Our ministry also works with the emancipated youth through the organization Just in Time to provide first home/apartment setups for youth that are moving into their first apartment. Two of these move-ins happen in February on Community Serve Day and another three are in spring, summer and fall. In June our ministry hosts a big Del Mar Learn to Surf Beach event in coordination with Promises2Kids in order to help bring together foster youth siblings that have been placed in separate homes. In addition, we also provide a much needed Respite Night for foster parents in August.
You can help a teen who has ‘aged out of the system' move, with Just In Time foster kids, etc.
