WORD OF LIFE HUNGARY
It was an ornate castle nestled on a 78-acre estate of lush trees, a picturesque lake, stables, the works! Then communism overran Central and Eastern Europe and the owners were evicted. For 40 years the Communist party used the grounds as a youth camp. When communism crumbled, the state could not afford to run the facility.
Waiting in the wings was Word of Life, an international youth ministry that was praying about mission work in Hungary. Through prayer and patience, Word of Life purchased the fairy tale estate and has turned it into a thriving Forest Home-like youth camp, complete with a swimming lake, basketball courts, soccer field, and more.
Every summer, over 1000 kids from all over Eastern Europe spend a week at the camp.
Many have never heard the Good News of Jesus. All are eager to learn English and are drawn by the camp's sports programs.
Teams of Christians from the U.S. join the awesome Word of Life staff to offer English instruction and sporting activities. No training in teaching or sports is necessary. All that's required is a love for Jesus and a love for youth!

SBPC MISSION TRIP
As a result of the Choir's 2010 Mission Trip to Eastern Europe, a new SBPC Global Mission Partnership was created. Through our church's focus on intergenerational relationships and the relationship building that takes shape between adults and students during KidsGames, it seemed natural to partner with the Word of Life Camp in Hungary. Our first mission team served during the summer of 2012.Our aim is to continue to join hearts as we reach the children and teens in Central Europe with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will serve in 2016 during a week of WOL's high school camp.
Reasons to go:
• English-speakers are a draw for Hungarian teens who want to learn English and about other cultures.
• Relationships formed at WOL teach us about the bond of our international brothers and sisters in Christ
• Intergenerational teams are desired, making this an ideal mission experience for people of all ages; individuals, couples, families, parents, high school and college.
• All skills are needed from sports, to housekeeping/kitchen support, to light construction, to hospitality, to teaching.
It is a camp, but we are leaders. We honor Word of Life with our selfless sacrifice. If you have a heart to joyfully serve and lay your all on the line for Christ, then this is the mission trip for you!
