Baptism Orientation

"Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" (Acts 8.37) Solana Beach Presbyterian Church offers quarterly baptism orientations for individuals seeking to be baptized or families desiring a child to be baptized. These small gatherings serve several purposes:

• To provide an opportunity for relationships for individuals and parents while learning about baptism.

• To challenge individuals to think through baptism and the significance of this important markers of life following Jesus.

• To challenge parents to wrestle through their responsibility as the primary spiritual role models and active disciplers of their children.

• To articulate for individuals and parents what we offer for encouragement and spiritual growth for adults and children in our church.

Each seminar will be held on a Wednesday night on church campus, with childcare provided. Babies are welcome to join their parents in the seminar. We will gather at 6:30 pm and finish by 8:00 pm. During the gathering, we will look at various questions: What is baptism? What is dedication? What is my responsibility in baptism? What is the responsibility of parents? What is the church's responsibility? What is the difference between infant baptism and dedication? What does baptism symbolize/communicate in our church (and culture)?

The Baptism Orientation will be facilitated by Josh Kerkhoff, Next Generation Pastor. The next class will be offered April 17. Orientation registration is coordinated through Laura Agee, Ministry Assistant for Next Generation Ministries.
