SBPC has joined hands with the community of Lomas Chimedia in the hillside region of Nuxino, Oaxaca, Mexico. We are working with the local leaders to improve the lives
of the people who live in this rural village.
This partnership links together SBPC, the people of Lomas Chimeda and the international development organization Floresta.
History and Goals
In 1999, a mission team from SBPC first went to El Porvenir, a small village in the eroded highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico. El Porvenir is one of the communities Floresta and its Mexican partner Mision Integral serve. It was our desire to share the unconditional love of Christ with the poor, both Christians and non-believers by responding to their physical as well as their spiritual needs.
Two years ago team responded to a new call from the small hillside village of Lomas Chimeda in the Nuxino region, north of Oaxaca City. Working with community members we have held Bible School and put on a "Festival of Values" celebrations, developed a Woman's Fellowship Group with sewing and crafts, led young teens in Bible study and fellowship. Alongside the community we planted trees to reforest the barren hillsides. We shared building and painting projects such as environmentally, safe toilet houses and cooking stoves. (continued)
Community Development Priorities

Microenterprises and other community developments make it possible for families to generate revenues, improving the health and nutrition of the family and at the same time reducing the pressure on the land.
