SBPC came across Our Friends as we were praying and searching for an unreached/unevangelized people group to adopt. We heard that the Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Jesus, one of the fastest growing denominations in the world, felt called by God to reach out to Our Friends. After entering into an agreement with the EECMY, we expanded the partnership to include World Vision, the world’s largest Christian development agency. We believe God has promised us 30 additional partners (churches, Christian schools, and other groups) in the USA who will join us it getting the gospel through these open doors. Almost a dozen have signed on thus far!
Together with the enthusiastic involvement of Our Friends, we have established a five year plan that addresses the agricultural, veterinary, educational and health needs of Our Friends. Already we’ve deployed eight Ethiopian Christian workers to the desert to begin these projects of mercy. In all we do we are seeking to live out the gospel with the aim of seeing the Holy Spirit birth a community of Christians among Our Friends where the Jesus Christ is worshipped in the language and culture of Our Friends. We believe the day of salvation has come to Our Friends; they are no longer forgotten!
