Financial Needs for our Partnership in Ethiopia

We have developed four connection tools to help you and your church get personally involved in raising the $500,000 needed over the next five years:

  1. “Friends of the  ____” --  This is a way for individuals or families to participate on a year-round basis.  It functions like a child sponsorship program, only adapted for the nomadic situation. A “Friend of the ___” will pledge so much each month to the outreachor to some specific ministry or project in the outreach. You will receive a quarterly repor tthat details project’s progress and also lifts up the needs for prayer.
  2. Love Loaf - Each Lent (40 days before Easter), SBPC homes use a Devotional Guide and a plastic Love Loaf piggy bank. The guide tells heart-warmingstories about Our Friends, their customs and needs and it also tells about the outreach efforts underway. Money from the banks and other gifts are collected on Palm Sunday. World Vision has developed a 30 Devotional Guide of stories that can be used any time of year with the Love Loaf banks and can be used by any church or home.
  3. 30 Hour Famine - Another World Vision program that we’veadapted to the work among Our Friends.  It is geared for youth groups. The teens are togetherfor 30 hours during which time they don’t eat.  Instead they learn about world hunger and aboutOur Friends. Each teen secures sponsors and thus add funds to the outreach.
  4. Major Gifts - Some are able to give large sums to the outreach or to specific projects in the outreach.  One family gave a large one time gift, another pledged a large sum each year over five years.
