Wilson Small Group
Groups heart for Military Outreach Ministry leads them to helping prepare and organize for the grand opening of the warehouse.

Small Group Members: Tom & Linda Baker, Phil & Susie Holtkamp, Scott & Susannah McDowell, Ron & Coralyn Summers, Dick & Julie Wray

Description of your project: We decided to have each couple in our group "match" the initial $100 so we could make a more substantial donation to be used for the banner identifying the new Military Outreach Ministry warehouse and any other needs to complete the project. Several members in the group were very active and put in "sweat equity" helping organize the warehouse to get ready for the "grand opening" in May. Patty Dutra and Faye Bell who are the "movers and shakers"/directors for MOM provided support and direction for what was most needed.

How did you come to your idea? Our small group discussed many options but kept returning to our commitment to the military through Military Outreach Ministry, MOM. Members have been responsible for food drives, diaper drives, furniture drives, "Mom's Day Out" day care, and service at the MOM warehouse at Pendleton. Because of this involvement we were aware of the construction and much needed new warehouse to house all the supplies for military families.

Beneficiary(s): Military families and MOM at Camp Pendleton.

Outcomes to date: The new warehouse provides a dramatically improved environment for military families to come to and get the food, furniture, and other material support they so badly need.

Stewardship Lessons learned: Stay true to the causes that move you deeply and that you are committed to. We will continue to give our time, money, prayers to MOM. We let military families know that we pray for their safety and wellbeing and will be there to support them. Many others from our church family give time and energy to MOM and we believe this outreach "mission" to the military families who can feel so isolated embraces them in the love of Jesus.

Would you invest your money in this way again? It all started with a single food drive at church on Sunday and delivering bags of food to Camp Pend1eton. It evolved into lots of volunteering at the base and amazing relationships that continue to flourish and nurture and spread the outward focus of our church family.
