Kaufman/Hughes/Randall/Southcombe Small Group
DVD Bibles given to young families.

Small Group Leader(s): Rob & Anna Kaufman, Vanessa Randall, Jodie Hughes and Dave Southcombe

Small Group Members: Matt & Heidi Aimonetti, Ericka Southcombe, Cliff Rhyne, Carol Chan, Erin Hartley, Cedric Lee, Christian Nommesen, Chrissy Parker

Description of your project: We use the $100, plus the $100 donated by another group to buy 23 DVD Bible sets that are designed for young children. We are donating those to some of our Hispanic Congregation families for the purpose of spreading the Gospel and an added benefit helping them learn English.

How did you come to your idea? After deciding on our first project (helping residents of a nursing facility send out cards), we ended up having our supplies donated and were left with all the money. One of our members came across the DVD Bibles and mentioned them. We brainstormed who might best benefit from receiving them and decided on the Hispanic Congregation.

How did you “invest” the $100? Bought 23 DVD Bibles for children.

Beneficiary(s): Members of the Hispanic Congregation with young families.

Process or procedure: We received a list from Juan Daniel Espitia of possible recipients, then we signed a card for each of the families so that the gifts would be more personal. The Bibles will be delivered to the families, probably at the church service. (The cards are leftovers from our first attempt at the challenge!)

Outcomes to date: We are still working on the list and the cards, so we really don’t have any outcomes beside the excitement our group members are feeling right now.

Stewardship Lessons learned: Sometimes you are blessed in unexpected ways (like donations!) the giving can be as or more rewarding than the receiving.

Would you invest your money in this way again? Definitely!
