It was recently brought to our attention that we should probably send out an update about our Next Gen Interns. It seemed like a great idea given our adaptive issue of communication so here is a Remember the Titans-esque overview of their next year (in alphabetical order):
Brianna will continue as the high school intern, pouring her passion for arts, missions, and high school students into things like Artists Quarters, Family Days in TJ, Young Life, and Gazelle infomercials with Tony Little. Her current intern position will continue through May of 2009.
Laura will also continue on in the junior high ministry, functioning as the interim JH director till a permanent person is found. Her energy and spunk will be the envy of Richard Simmons. Her current intern position will continue through May of 2009.
Ryan has recently moved on from Next Gen ministries in his interim intern role with the high school community to pursue other options in ministry. He has some solid options in Los Angeles and San Diego county. He recently beat Kimbo Slice in a fist fight involving whole turkeys and raw bananas.
Tyler, after one year in our partnership internship with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), will continue on staff with IVCF. He will continue to work with Ramiro Marchena at Cal State San Marcos and will be a bridge for our college ministry. He and Melanie McFarland were married Sunday, June 15 in Orange County. While we will not officially have a college internship next year, Ramiro and Wendi Marchena and Tyler and Melanie Allred, all IVCF staff people on different San Diego college campuses, will help us form a college ministry by playing different volunteer roles in our community of faith.
We hope this helps you get a better picture for life in Next Gen. Let us know if you have any questions about the various transitions.
Grace,
Josh Kerkhoff and Stew Montgomery
